CAMDEN, NJ -- The Sugar Land Skeeters have the worst record in the Atlantic League yet seem to also have the Camden Riversharks number. The Skeeters won their tenth game in fifteen attempts over Camden Friday, pounding out 15 hits en route to a 5-2 win at Campbell’s Field.

Keith Weiser danced out of a runners-at-the-corners jam in the first thanks to a double play, but the Skeeters (12-10, 41-51) scored two runs in the second inning. Weiser hit the leadoff man Steve Moss and Bubba Bell singled.

After Matt Hagen struck out, Manuel Mejia hit one on the ground to short for Jake Eigsti, who fielded the grounder and stepped on second but his throw to first was high, finding its way down the right field line.

The error allowed Moss to round third to score the game’s first run. It also put Mejia on second and he scored on a single from the next hitter, Iggy Suarez, to double the lead. They added a third run in the third inning with an RBI single from Moss.

The Sharks (10-11, 44-46) got a run back in the home half of the third when Paddy Matera led off with a double into the right field corner. He took a big turn at second and forced a wild throw from the cutoff man Dominic Ramos; a two base error to get the Sharks on the board.

Pedro Feliz led off the fourth with a triple and scored on a groundout from Raul Padron. The Sharks wound up loading the bases in the inning, but Ryan McKellar got Chris Walker to fly out to right.
That was the last real threat the Sharks had in the game. Singles in the fifth and ninth were the only hits after the fourth and both were erased on double plays. Camden hit into three twin-killings in the game, including a 6-4-3 to end the game.
