Camden Riversharks CAMDEN 6 9 0
Long Island Ducks LONG ISLAND 11 20 3
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY -- It seems lately the Camden Riversharks can never get everything going at once. Sunday they had the pitching, but three errors cost them three unearned runs and the offense couldn't provide enough support.

Monday, after a 3-and-6 home stand, Camden hoped to find better fortune against a reeling Long Island Ducks who had lost seven of their last 10 games.

Brian Burgamy did everything he could, driving in five runs in the game, but it wasn't enough. The Long Island Ducks pounded out twenty hits to take the first game of the series, 11-6, at Bethpage Park. The previous high for Camden pitching had been 15 hits allowed.

The Riversharks (17-26, 51-61) got the scoring started in the first inning when Brian Burgamy doubled home Chris Walker to give Camden a 1-0 lead.

Long Island was set down in order in the first inning, but responded in the second with a solo home run from Brandon Sing, one of two he had in the game, to tie things up.

Camden regained the lead in the third when Burgamy grounded out with runners at the corners to allow Walker to touch home again.

Then came the onslaught.

A three-run third which saw Long Island bat around was followed up by another three-run inning in the fourth, putting Long Island up 7-3 and chasing Sharks starter Kevin Reese from the game.

Reese (3-7) went 3.1 innings and allowed seven runs on ten hits with a walk and two strikeouts. He is now 0-and-3 in his last three starts and in 12.2 combined innings he has allowed 18 earned runs.

Santo Hernandez came on in relief and allowed the two runners on base to score, both charged to Reese to complete his line.

Hernandez worked a scoreless fifth inning and Blake King kept Long Island off the board in the sixth to keep Camden alive. In the seventh, Burgamy put a jolt back into the Sharks with a two-out three-run home run off Ducks starter Chris Hayes to make it a one-run ballgame and chase Hayes from the game.

Hayes (3-3) got a win despite allowing six runs on nine hits in 6.2 innings. He is 3-and-0 since joining Long Island.

With the game close again, King retook the mound trying to keep the Camden offense in it, but a two run seventh gave Long Island some insurance. They added two more in the eighth off of Josh Walter to solidify their lead and get the win. Each inning had a home run, giving Long Island four on the game.

Camden looks to even the series Tuesday night at Bethpage Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 with Bryan Corey (7-8) on the hill for the Riversharks.

The game can be heard live on the Riversharks Audio Network starting at 6:55. Click on the listen to away games tab on the riversharks website.

The Riversharks return home Friday to host the Sugar Land Skeeters for a three-game Labor Day Weekend series. For tickets, call 1-866-SHARKS-9, visit riversharks.com or stop by the TD Bank Convenience WIndow.
