Camden Riversharks CAMDEN 3 10 0
Somerset Patriots SOMERSET 1 5 2
BRIDGEWATER, NJ -- It's that time of year again. The grueling dog days of summer are rearing their ugly head.

Twenty games in twenty days, including two cross-country flights, were starting to take their tole. The Camden Riversharks had dropped five straight and seven of their last ten heading into Monday's off day.

They seemed to come out reenergized. Camden took care of the little things (and Bryan Corey took care of the big ones) to get a 3-1 win over the Somerset Patriots on Tuesday night at TD Bank Ballpark in the first of a three game series in Bridgewater, NJ.

Corey retired the first 12 batters he faced before Corey Smith singled to lead off the fifth inning. Corey (7-7) picked up the win on seven plus innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and striking out six without walking a batter.

The Riversharks (11-13, 45-48) got on the board in the fifth when Eduardo Perez and Lloyd Turner hit back-to-back two-out doubles to plate a run.

Meanwhile, all Justin Cassel can do is wonder how his record falls to 3-8 while his ERA drops to 2.97 on the season. Cassel went seven innings and gave up three runs (one earned) on nine hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Camden added to it in the seventh. Pedro Feliz extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a leadoff single. Raul Padron matched him before Perez grounded one towards Freddie Bynum. The second baseman had a perfect set up to a double play, but the ball squeaked under his glove into right center, scoring Feliz. Steve Doetsch added an RBI single to score Perez later in the inning.

Corey had shut out Somerset (10-15, 45-50) through seven but his longest outting of the year had been 7.1 innings, so he was on a short leash. Adam Donachie led off the inning with a double to left center, chasing Corey from the game. Leo Rosales allowed the run to score on an RBI groundout from Joe Holden. He and Lujan went two combined innings of scoreless baseball to secure the win.

The win snaps the five-game skid for Camden, who looks to take the series in a morning game Wednesday. First pitch is set for 11:05.
