Riversharks Sign 19 Players For Upcoming Season

The Camden Riversharks have signed 19 players to its roster for the 2005 season. Newcomers include Rutgers Camden graduate Dan McKenna, Eric Fischer, Guy Lynam, Eddie Wilson, Derek Smith, LJ Biernbaum and David Miller, a member of the 2003 Riversharks team.
Three starting pitchers from last year’s squad will be in uniform this season, including Brett Laxton, Jamie Steward and 2003 Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year, Ben Simon. Relievers Josh Laxton and southpaw Todd Rizzo, who led the staff with a 1.80 ERA in 2004, will also be back with the team.
All-Stars Travis Anderson and Brad Strauss return alongside infielders Kevin Wilson and Ryan Jones, the team’s RBI leader last season.
Dwight Maness will be patrolling centerfield in his fifth season with the Riversharks, while outfielders Rich Barrett and Chris Wakeland both return for the 2005 campaign.
The remaining roster spots will be filled prior to the season opener on April 28th vs. the Nashua Pride. The Camden Riversharks, Lancaster Barnstormers and Atlantic City Surf will be holding open tryouts at The Sandcastle, in Atlantic City, on April 9th.
Individual tickets to all 2005 home games, including the home opener vs. the Nashua Pride on April 28th, are now on sale. Additionally, fans can now purchase tickets for the July 1st Def Leppard/Bryan Adams Rock ‘N Roll double header concert.
