Former Rivershark Jered Weaver Throws No-Hitter for the Angels
POSTED: 5/3/2012 by Danielle Forte

Former Rivershark Jered Weaver threw his first no-hitter last night when the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Minnesota Twins 9-0.

Weaver was the Angels first-round draft pick (12th overall) in 2004. In 2005, he joined the Riversharks and trained with the team while the Angels were in negotiation to sign him. He was scheduled to throw an inning of relief in a game against the Lancaster Barnstormers, but as the Angels closing period neared, it was imperative to close a deal. They agreed to terms on May 30, 2005, two days before his Riversharks debut.

Last night, Weaver (4-0) struck out nine and walked one. The only two baserunners for the Twins were in the second and seventh innings due to the walk and a dropped third strike.

Only ten other pitchers in the Angels franchise have accomplished a no-hitter, including Nolan Ryan who has thrown four with the Angels.
