Ducks Bats, Rain Sink Riversharks
POSTED: 9/22/2012 by Jake Levy
The Camden Riversharks drop a rain-shortened game, 9-0, to the Long Island Ducks Saturday night at Campbellās Field. Matt Way tossed 5.1 scoreless innings before the rain came to halt play in the bottom of the sixth.
The Ducks scored in four consecutive innings, including a four-spot in the fifth inning. Ray Navarrete had two doubles and a home run, driving in four runs, and setting the Long Island Ducks all-time record for extra base hits. He now has 68 on the season.
Camden got a leadoff hit in the first, but a caught stealing put an end to any potential threat. Long Island used two home runs, one from Navarrete and the other from Brandon Sing, to do a bulk of their damage.
Kevin Reese (4-10) took the loss, giving up seven runs on 11 hits in five innings. Way (2-0) picked up his second win in as many starts. He has not allowed a run in 13.1 innings of work for Long Island, with both starts coming against the Riversharks.
Camden looks to finish their season on a positive note in the finale Sunday night. First pitch is 5:35 p.m., for ticket information call 1-866-SHARKS-9, visit riversharks.com or stop by the TD Bank Convenience Window.
