The Camden Riversharks will host the 2012 Atlantic League All-Star Game presented by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey on Wednesday, July 11th at 7:05 p.m. This will be the second time that Campbell’s Field will host the event.

There will be a pre-game block party presented by J Dogs Catering and Amusements starting at 2 p.m. Inflatable games will be set up on the front plaza for the children to play on and there will also be music for all fans to enjoy. The gates will open at 4 p.m.

Not only will fans be able to see the most talented players from the Atlantic League but they will be able to enjoy once in a lifetime experiences. Preceding the game, fans will witness a “Legends v. Champions” celebrity softball game presented by “Jaws Youth Playbook”.

The game will support two area non-profit organizations – Jaws Youth Playbook and Kisses for Kyle. Jaws Youth Playbook supports the health and wellness of at-risk youth in the community while advocating the access to safe play and healthy choices. Kisses for Kyle was founded in honor of Kyle Snyder, who lost his life to cancer in 2001, and offers a variety of services to families fighting childhood cancer in the Delaware Valley.

ESPN NFL Analyst Ron “Jaws” Jaworski and Former Phillies Manager and MLB Network Analyst Larry Bowa will co-captain the event. Bowa will lead “The Champions” team, managed by Michael Barkann and fielded with players from the Phillies 1980 and 2008 World Series Championship teams including Dickie Noles and Larry Christenson. Jaws will lead “The Legends” team, managed by Ike Reese and comprised of Philadelphia area legendary athletes.

“I am so excited to work with Larry and our celebrity friends to raise funds for two important causes,” said Ron Jaworski, President of Jaws Youth Playbook. “Campbell’s Field is an amazing setting for this showdown and I guarantee it will be an awesome experience for the fans.”

The list of current and former athletes as well as media personalities who will join Jaws and Bowa in the celebrity softball game is growing. To keep an eye on the celebrity filled roster or to learn more about the celebrity softball game, keep checking riversharks.com or visit JawsSoftball.com.

In the event this year’s All-Star game ends in a tie after nine innings, we shall have the first ever Atlantic League Homer Off to decide the winner. Each manager will select one player from each Division to represent their team in the Homer Off contest. The representing player will hit three outs at a time (all fair balls and foul balls are outs) with the visiting Freedom Division hitting in the top of the inning and continuing until there is a winner, Sudden Victory.
